This is the main section of the rock collections, you can’t see well in this shot but there are cases along the walls as well. That door at the end leads to the vault where they keep the really expensive stuff.

The Museum has a lot of rocks, really a truly excessive amount of rocks, we didn’t look at them all that would have taken far too long, but among the ones we did look at this was one of the more crazy awesome ones. Unfortunately I forgot what it is.

There was a cool ants nest display where you could watch them going about their stuff. Small, fast moving and behind glass = not easy to photograph.

Giant Sloth

The primary purpose of our trip to the museum was to visit this guy and I’m not even going to try and explain why beyond pointing out that it’s a sloth the size of a elephant.

Natural History Museum Foyer

The foyer area at the museum. The Dino skeleton is impressive, but the partially dissected camel display behind it is much more interesting.

This is the exterior of the Natural History Museum, we spent the better part of a day there and checked out the right half, we intend to go back and visit the other half sometime.

Where to begin, it’s now over a month since this was taken, the lack of posting the last couple of weeks is a combination of moving apartment with the associated internet outage and starting a new job with the associated dramatic decline in free time. I’d promise to be more diligent in future, but it’s not likely to happen, for the foreseeable future we are back to best effort.

More Shard

I’m actually running low on photos that do anything new with it, and we are hopefully moving out of the Southwark area next week, so there probably won’t be many more Shard photos.

Blue Moon

The beer that I am drinking here is an American craft beer called Blue Moon. Prior to London I had only ever had it at one place, the Poor House Bistro in San Jose, perhaps my favorite place in California. So I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that while not common it is at least available in London. I’ve seen it in a couple of different pubs so far. Unfortunately the same can not be said of Kilkenny which I haven’t seen at all, my work mates tell me this is because I’ve been going to English pubs and that I need to try some Irish pubs.

I love this building, subsequently you are just going to have to suffer through every angle in every combination of weather and light 😛
