A panorama of the cliffs above Grose Valley. Don’t have a lot to say about this one.
I like the colors.

This is the view of Grose Valley from Govetts Leap near Blackheath.
The blue haze really messed with the white balance on the camera, I wish I’d thought to lock it. Well, lesson learned.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but the haze is caused by gas rising off the gum trees and it’s the source of the name “Blue Mountains”.
It’s a 45min walk from Blackheath train station out to Govetts Leap, which isn’t to bad.
But we had on backpacks full of clothes and newly acquired books.
And then of course you just have to head down the cliff face a bit for better photo opportunities.
All of which adds to a fair slog back up the cliff and then 45mins back to town.
On the upside there’s a couple of pubs in Blackheath.

This is the amphitheater near the toy museum in Leura.
It’s actually curved, but the projection of the panorama makes it look straight.
Here’s a satellite view on Google Maps.
I dropped my camera and cracked the shell while taking this. Fortunately it seems ok.

This is at Cafe Bon Ton in Leura.
After dinner on Saturday we were feeling restless so we headed over to Leura to try and find something interesting for desert and this is where we ended up.
Photo wise I like the warm orange and red tones, and it’s the first time I’ve tried photographing fire.

I’m not generally a big black and white person. I’ve seen a lot of stuff that’s done really well in black and white, but I don’t have an eye for it yet. Regardless I thought it suited this car we saw while kicking around Leura.

Almost anywhere along the Katoomba / Leura cliff top affords the visitor this magnificent view of Mount Solitary across the Jamison valley.

We spent the weekend after the train trip in the Blue Mountains.
This is the front path leading up to the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. This is our favorite hotel in the area. We just love the charm of the old place. The old school elevator, the squeaky stairs, sunny drinks on the balcony, evening drinks in the lounge. It’s just great.
Oh and they have a whole stack of artwork by Norman Lindsay. For those of you who aren’t up on your 1900′s Australian artists, this is the guy portrayed by Sam Neill in that movie where Elle Macpherson nudes up.
