Carrington Lounge

Carrington Lounge

One of the prime features of the hotel is the lounge. It has a fire place set in one wall and a variety of comfortable seating scattered around.
Sometimes there will be soft music playing, other times the piano guy will be doing his thing down the hall toward the dining room.
All in all a great place to spend and evening relaxing, siping cocktails and spacing out.

Carrington Hotel

Carrington Hotel

The lights of the hotel through the dark and the rain.

We always stay at the same hotel when we visit the Blue Mountains. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to suggest that we are actually visiting the hotel.

Cliffs and Clouds

I like the contrasting colors and odd framing on this one. Not too sure why.

Mount Solitary

Almost anywhere along the Katoomba / Leura cliff top affords the visitor this magnificent view of Mount Solitary across the Jamison valley.

Carrington Steps

Carrington Steps

We spent the weekend after the train trip in the Blue Mountains.

This is the front path leading up to the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. This is our favorite hotel in the area. We just love the charm of the old place. The old school elevator, the squeaky stairs, sunny drinks on the balcony, evening drinks in the lounge. It’s just great.

Oh and they have a whole stack of artwork by Norman Lindsay. For those of you who aren’t up on your 1900’s Australian artists, this is the guy portrayed by Sam Neill in that movie where Elle Macpherson nudes up.
